Government Keeps Petrol & Diesel Prices Unchanged

The government has decided not to reduce petrol and diesel prices even though global oil prices have dropped. Fuel rates will remain fixed for the next 15 days.

Current Rates

  • Petrol: PKR 253.17 per liter
  • Diesel: PKR 257.08 per liter

What Happened Before
On January 1, petrol was cut by PKR 10.28 and high-speed diesel by PKR 8.57. Many expected further drops from January 16, but the government has kept prices unchanged.

Expected Reductions That Didn’t Happen

  • Petrol could have dropped by PKR 4.59
  • Diesel by PKR 2.70
  • Kerosene by PKR 1.82
  • Light diesel by PKR 2.08

Final Decision
The Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) submitted calculations on January 15, and the Ministry of Finance, after consulting the Prime Minister, confirmed no changes.

What This Means for Consumers
Fuel prices remain stable, providing certainty for households across Pakistan, despite fluctuating global oil markets.
